The flute's key, crown, rings, and adjustable foot joint are made of solid silver, weighing approximately 3 ounces. The key's silver pin is set with a natural diamond. The foot joint features an innovative screwing method for precise adjustment. The flute includes a handmade walnut case and cloth bag. The original boxwood flute has seven middle joints, a screw-cork, and foot register, with a round embouchure and balanced character suitable for Baroque flute music at a=415 Hz. The Rottenburgh model is constructed with aged Cocobolo and a foot register, finished with oil for improved sound quality at a=415 Hz. This model can also be made from ebony, granadilla, or boxwood, but the Cocobolo flute is over 50-60 years old and has superior density to today's cultivated ebony.
